TRIPLE CROWN FOR PETER ATHANS AND LANCASHIRE

This tournament was inaugurated by Jim Pringle the father of Jillian Wallwork and grandfather of Jenny Wallwork. Jim pioneered the Junior Badminton Satellites in Liverpool and became known as “Mr Badminton” by many. He gathered around him a group of coaches and formed an elite club coached by Mal Morton. At this point in time Liverpool was a section of the Merseyside County Junior B.A. The tournament proved very popular and, as result, has reached its 21st Anniversary this year, a matter of which we are very proud.

We were very pleased to welcome Roger Ewing, Member of the Board of Directors of Badminton England and Chair of the Competitive Play Board, who presented the trophies and cash prizes. In addition, Nick Rimmer, the Regional Manager for the North West attended the finals.
